Description

Polyamide(PA) are also commonly known as Nylon, the most common types of polyamides are PA6 and PA66, which are characterized by balanced mechanical, electrical and tribological properties. Nylons are often material of choice when it comes to applications that require high strength, rigidity and flame retardant ability.PA6 has similar chemical and physical properties to PA66, however, it has a lower melting point and a wide range of process temperatures. It has better impact and solubility resistance than PA66, but it is also more hygroscopic. Because many quality characteristics of plastic parts are affected by moisture absorption, so the use of PA6 design products to take this into full consideration. In order to improve the mechanical properties of PA6, various modifiers are often added. Glass is the most common additive, and synthetic rubber, such as EPDM and SBR, is sometimes added to improve impact resistance. For products without additives, the shrinkage rate of PA6 is between 1% and 1.5%. Adding a fiberglass additive reduces shrinkage to 0.3%(but slightly more perpendicular to the process). The shrinkage of molding and assembly is mainly affected by crystallinity and hygroscopicity of materials. Application
